Windows Vista Beta/Linux IPsec Interop Testing
by MichaelF on May 09, 2007 07:27PM
In addition to technical tips, blogs and video interviews, the Open Source Software Lab at Microsoft conducts a number of technical analysis and research projects throughout the year to help inform and solve key interoperability challenges between Microsoft and open source technologies. This particular research was conducted after reviewing data from our VPN research which was previously posted to Port 25.Abstract:This document provides an overview of Linux IPsec solutions as well as detailed discussions on configuring IPsec-Tools for interoperability scenarios between Red Hat Linux Enterprise 4 and Windows Vista Ultimate Beta.

I just want to point out that your comments about NAT-T in transport mode are incorrect. There is no need for changes to the linux kernel code to support NAT-T in transport mode, Openswan does support NAT-T in transport mode with the present NETKEY code.

I discussed this very topic with several people whilst @ LUGRadioLive 2007 earlier this year - I'm glad

I need to setup secured connection between a Linux (CentOS) to a Vista box. I am using transport method and following the step by step guide I am getting this error, could any one let me know how can I resolve this error ( it seems while doing the interoperability testing tester have also found this error as it is discussed in the given guide)
2007-08-10 11:01:12: ERROR: proto_id mismathed: my:2 peer:3
2007-08-10 11:01:12: ERROR: proposal mismathed.
2007-08-10 11:01:12: ERROR: failed to pre-process packet.
2007-08-10 11:01:12: ERROR: phase2 negotiation failed.
If I initiate the secured connection from Vista (ping Fedora from Vista) then it is OK.
Many thanks.
